Hello, my name is Tericia Ricketts, and I am a senior at the University of South Florida pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Science with a concentration in Data Science and Analytics. My academic journey has allowed me to develop an interest in using data, technology, and analytical thinking to better understand problems and support meaningful solutions.
Throughout my studies, I have gained experience working with Excel, SQL, R, Python, and Tableau, along with developing skills in data analysis, visualization, predictive analytics, and programming. My coursework and projects have given me opportunities to work with real-world datasets, identify patterns, communicate findings, and think critically about how data can be used to make informed decisions.
My background has also shaped the way I approach learning and problem solving. I was born in Jamaica and moved to Florida when I was younger. Growing up between different environments and experiences has given me an appreciation for different perspectives, cultures, and ways of thinking. It has also encouraged me to be adaptable, curious, and open to learning from the people around me.
In addition to my academic experience, I have professional experience in education as a kindergarten teacher. Working in education has strengthened my communication, leadership, organization, collaboration, and problem solving skills. It has also taught me how important it is to understand your audience and communicate information in a way that is clear and meaningful skills that I believe are valuable in the field of data and information.
As I approach graduation, I am excited to continue developing my technical and analytical skills and apply them to real world challenges. I am particularly interested in opportunities that allow me to combine data, technology, problem-solving, and communication to create meaningful impact.
